"In the early 1960’s, as a young man grew up on the outskirts of Porterdale, GA, his older brother James was praying that God would somehow send truth to his family.  Little did he know that God was waiting for his little brother to grow up.  For eleven years he earnestly prayed for God to move.  The older brother was Apostolic and attended the Milstead Apostolic Church.  The younger brother met and married Arlene Clark and through that union was led to the truth in Rev. R. L. Clark’s church in Atlanta, GA.  He was baptized in Jesus name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost.  God saw his faithfulness and caused him to grow in the Lord. 

            In the meantime, the young man was having dreams of being the pastor of a church.  In the dreams God showed him the church he attended as a child, and it was within a mile from his home.  The church was not apostolic. 

            The little white church on Eleanor rd. sat high up on a hill.  It was struggling to survive.  Their pastor had resigned, the deacon board resigned and the church had no leader.  The Morrell family attended that church.

            God’s plan was in action and out of desperation for a pastor they asked Rev. Kenneth Morrell to come and preach for them even though they didn’t believe his message.  Rev. Morrell became Pastor of Higher Praise Tabernacle in 1982 at the age of 24 years old.   Some members of the church left, but there was a remnant left for him to work with. 

What a miracle God took a young boy, because his brother prayed for truth for his family and made him the pastor of a church that did not know the truth.  Our God is amazing!

            Under the leadership of Bro. Morrell and his obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the church has grown and now knows the truth of God’s word.  The church is experiencing revival and prospering. 

            The old church was sold and a new church was built on highway 212 in 1994.  We now have a beautiful new church that is completely paid for. Praise God!  We praise God for Bro & Sis Morrell, their families, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because they have brought us from a mighty long way.  We still have family and loved ones that need to come into God’s family but we keep praying for we know that our God can do anything!

You’ve rained down manna in our midst, and have brought us through two floods.  The devil has tried to stop this work but God will prevail and cause us to grow in Him!"
